Assessment
We offer both informal and formal assessment to investigate a child’s communication skills. These skills include, speech sound production, understanding and using language (receptive and expressive), fluency and voice. Assessments are important to assess your child’s strengths and difficulties as well as to develop a personalised treatment plan.
Intervention
We offer both home and school-based intervention. Delivery is dependent on your child’s needs. This can be either individual or group based.
Parent Training
Working collaboratively with parents is the essence at Rita Shamoun Speech Pathology. Parent training is included in treatment to not only empower parents and caregivers but also provide them with the knowledge and tools to support the child’s communication development.
Workshops
Workplace and early education workshops are frequently held to support individuals working with children. The workshops cover a range of topics relevant to a child’s communication development. The workshops offer practical strategies and activities to support child’s communication skills.
Orofacial Myology
Rita specialises in Orofacial Myology, offering assessment and intervention to address challenges related to the face, mouth, and jaw. Concerns often associated with these challenges include tongue thrust, mouth breathing, improper tongue posture, and other difficulties that can impact feeding, speech, and orthodontic development.
The approach involves assessing and treating these issues through targeted exercises designed to train the muscles to function properly. By addressing the root cause of the difficulties, this service supports long-term improvements in function and overall well-being.

Rita hosts the podcast "Wine with Wita", engaging with health professionals and families in meaningful discussions.
Wine with Wita increases awareness, reduces stigma and offers parents and caregivers a space to discuss their experiences.
